Zion, IL — The Zee Bees dispatched Wheeling High School on Saturday at Zion-Benton Township High School District 126, 12-5.
Zion-Benton got on the board in the first inning after Aaden Grider tripled, scoring three runs.
Zion-Benton added one run in the second after Wheeling High School committed an error.
Wheeling High School made the score 5-4.
The Zee-Bees made the score 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth after Grider singled, scoring three runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.
Julian Guzman earned the win for Zion-Benton. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Adrian Gonzalez stepped on the mound first for Zion-Benton. The pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking one.
The Zee-Bees tallied 11 hits in the game. Ross Ames, Grider, Andrew Mitchell, Brayden Duran, and Monchie Gunter V each collected two hits for Zion-Benton Varsity Zee-Bees. Grider went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Zion-Benton stole four bases in the game. The Zee-Bees turned two double plays in the game.
Zion-Benton will travel to Waukegan for their next game on Monday.
