San Juan Capistrano, CA — The @jserra.football team opened the 2026 season on Friday with a 42-21 defeat to the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers in a nonleague game at JSerra Catholic High School. The Lions found the end zone with 6:16 left in the second quarter, as senior quarterback Hayes Cloutier lofted a perfect 25-yard touchdown pass to junior Sam Fredericksen on fourth down. Senior Braylin Spencer provided a defensive highlight for the Lions in the third quarter, when he picked off a Trailblazer pass and raced 85 yards for a touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Jack Hilgenberg put the final touchdown on the board for JSerra with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter, scampering into the end zone on a four yard scoring run. Cloutier finished the game completing 18-of-32 passes for 162 yards. Senior wide receiver Clark Cokley enjoyed a strong seasonal debut, as he recorded 13 receptions for 116 yards. Senior Dylan Brown added an interception for the Lions, with senior Dylan Fenn adding a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
