Wichita, KS — A walk-off left Goddard Varsity Lions on the wrong end of a 9-8 defeat to Maize South on Tuesday. Maize South were down 8-7 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Lillig doubled, scoring two runs. Jensen collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Jensen hit a solo home run to left field in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Goddard Varsity Lions were the first to get on the board in the first when Jensen hit a solo home run to left field. Maize South captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the second when Haynes grounded out, scoring two runs, Akers singled, scoring one run, and Hansen grounded out, scoring one run. Goddard Varsity Lions tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a double by Jensen, a single by Dunlavy, and a hit by a pitch. A ground out by Walter gave Goddard Varsity Lions the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fifth.
