Softball Recap: South Pasadena Falls to Heritage Christian in First Game of Season
South Pasadena 5, Heritage Christian 6
North Hills, CA — South Pasadena kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Heritage Christian Warriors by a score of 6-5. The Tigers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lucia Atencio spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Racquel Dominguez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Taelyn Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Heritage Christian's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.
Looking ahead, South Pasadena will welcome Maranatha at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Christian, they will challenge Chaminade at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
