Enterprise Varsity Hornets Fall To Trinity After Surrendering Big First Inning

Weaverville, CA — Trinity scored 12 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Enterprise Varsity Hornets 14-2 on Tuesday at Trinity High School.
Enterprise Varsity Hornets were the first to get on the board in the first when an error scored one run.
Trinity flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring 12 runs on three hits to take the lead, 12-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Ava Simmons that drove in two.
A single by Sophia Isbell extended the Trinity lead to 13-1 in the bottom of the second inning.
Trinity added one run in the third after Enterprise Varsity Hornets committed an error.
Brynn Sommerfeld earned the win for Trinity. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking two. Dakota Strickland pitched three and two-thirds innings in relief for Enterprise Varsity Hornets. The righty surrendered six hits and nine runs (six earned) while, striking out two and walking six. Shelby Hopper took the loss for Enterprise Varsity Hornets. The starter went one-third of an inning, surrendering five runs on zero hits, striking out none and walking five.
Bella Romero went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Hopper went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Enterprise Varsity Hornets in hits. Carly Graham stole two bases.
Lizzy Palmer and Simmons were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Trinity while hitting back-to-back. Eva Ehlerding, Palmer, Isbell, and Simmons each drove in two runs for Trinity. Adriana Seele led Trinity with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 11 walks for the game.
