Duarte, CA — While South Pasadena's victory against Duarte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers skirted past the Falcons 10-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Lucia Atencio made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. Atencio was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Dawson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Racquel Dominguez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
South Pasadena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got South Pasadena back to even at 5-5. As for Duarte, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pasadena will host Blair at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Duarte, they will welcome Maranatha at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Minutemen have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
