Chico, CA — Pleasant Valley defeated Enterprise Varsity Hornets 19-1 on Tuesday at Pleasant Valley High School thanks in part to 12 runs in the first inning. Pleasant Valley got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Baxter drew a walk, scoring one run, Moore induced Bowersox to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Hamman doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored two runs, an error scored one run, Baxter doubled, scoring two runs, Bowersox doubled, scoring one run, and Hamman singled, scoring two runs. Pleasant Valley added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when an error scored one run, Baxter singled, scoring one run, and Bowersox singled, scoring two runs. A walk by Baxter extended the Pleasant Valley lead to 17-1 in the bottom of the third inning. Baxter earned the win for Pleasant Valley. The pitcher allowed five hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Moore took the loss for Enterprise Varsity Hornets. The lefty went four innings, giving up 19 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits, striking out one and walking 16. Romero went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Graham went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Enterprise Varsity Hornets in hits. Pleasant Valley accumulated 11 hits in the game.
