Show Low, AZ — By GameChanger Media Addi Clark collected three hits in three at bats, as Show Low Varsity Cougars defeated Winslow 14-4 on Tuesday. Clark hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning, tripled in the third inning, and singled in the second inning. A home run to center field by Jewel Ben put Winslow on the board in the top of the first. Show Low Varsity Cougars took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Aspyn Clark flew out, Riley Heuett singled down the left field line, and Lyndie Wallentine singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Show Low Varsity Cougars scored six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Heuett singled, scoring one run, Madi Breeze induced Wallentine to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Gracie Umphress singled, scoring two runs, and Ari Rivera singled, scoring two runs. Show Low Varsity Cougars added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning on four hits. Rylee Wyatt hit a solo home run to right field, Wallentine singled, scoring two runs, and Umphress singled, scoring one run. Show Low Varsity Cougars scored one run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run to center field by Clark. Clark earned the win for Show Low Varsity Cougars. The starting pitcher surrendered four hits and four runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Breeze took the loss for Winslow. The starting pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up nine runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking four. Show Low Varsity Cougars accumulated 12 hits in the game. Umphress and Wallentine each drove in three runs for Show Low Varsity Cougars. Heuett collected two hits for Show Low Varsity Cougars in two at bats. Clark stole two bases.
