Tonganoxie, KS — The Lady Chieftains battled Baldwin in an extremely windy game and pulled out a 1-0 win. to improve their record to 2-0. The first half went scoreless. Natalie Loving had several shots but nothing fell through. The second half started and the Chieftains had to play into the wind. The half went on with no goals until the 74th minute. Paityn VanMiddlesworth scored an unassisted goal with six minutes to play. None of this could have happened without the backline and Lauren Breuer. Olivia Butler, Avery Smith, and Legan Caraway held the middle of the field down while Abigail Blanka and Evelynn Fox took care of the outside of the field. This is the Chieftains first shutout of the season. The Chieftains look to continue their winning streak on Tuesday, March 31st at 6:15 p.m. at Leavenworth High School. The JV Lady Chieftains tied the Baldwin JV team on March 26th to have their record now be 1-0-1. Gabby Garza led the team with five shots. Reese Eckstein and Alicia Rojas both recorded one shot. Lauren Breuer recorded four saves and Chaynee Howell had herself two saves. The Chieftains play at Leavenworth on March 31st at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated.
