Tonganoxie, KS — The Lady Chieftains varsity soccer team defeated Lansing high school in an impressive 5-0 victory. Molly Vought opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Grace Weatherford found herself a goal off of a save from the keeper in the 37th minute leaving the score at 2-0 going into halftime. Lilli Sanders led the team with four shots in the first half. Paityn VanMiddlesworth was close before with two shots herself. VanMiddlesworth bagged the third goal early in the second half. Natalie Loving earned herself the fourth goal off of a corner kick. The final goal came from Marissa Dick leaving the score at 5-0. Lauren Breuer and her backline recorded another shutout. Breuer had two saves herself. The Chieftains play Maranatha Christian on April 9th at 6 p.m. The JV Lady Chieftains tied Lansing in a thrilling game on April 2nd. In the seventh minute, Lansing snuck in a goal. The Chieftains continued to fight going into the half. With a score of 1-0, the Chieftains continued and never let up. A the literal buzzer, Gabby Garza earned herself her second goal of the year. The Chieftains have their next game on April 9th at Maranatha Christian at 4:30 p.m.
