JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions fell to Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman 7-6 on Monday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run.
Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman were the first to get on the board in the first when Ryan Gates singled, scoring two runs.
Brody Rae hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the second for the JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions.
JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions made the score 6-4 in the top of the seventh after Riley Jackson drew a walk, scoring one run, Fick singled, scoring one run, and W Mckinney singled, scoring two runs.
Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman captured the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the seventh after Dylan Hendon tripled down the right field line, Shane Parker was struck by a pitch, and JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions committed an error, each scoring one run.
Mckinney stepped on the bump first for JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions. The starter surrendered four hits and four runs (three earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking five. Paul Diagngault stepped on the mound first for Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking two.
Mckinney led JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
