Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Gregory Dillon grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Ryan Gates homered to left field, scoring two runs. Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Dylan Hendon homered to center field, JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions committed an error, and Oliver Widhelm grounded into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. Hendon homered to left field, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth for the Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman. Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman scored three runs in the top of the sixth on a home run to left field by Tyler Fritz. Fick started on the bump for JSerra Catholic Freshman Lions. The pitcher allowed six hits and seven runs (two earned) over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Hank Cho stepped on the mound first for Mater Dei Monarchs Freshman.
