Alpena, MI — Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs Stymied By Alpena Varsity Wildcats By GameChanger Media Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs had trouble keeping up with Alpena Varsity Wildcats in a 12-4 loss on Thursday. Alpena Varsity Wildcats opened the scoring in the first after an error scored one run. Alpena Varsity Wildcats added one run in the third. Troy MacArthur singled to center field, making the score 2-0. Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Alpena Varsity Wildcats committed an error, Kane Savoie singled to right field, Dalton Savoie was struck by a pitch, and Kyle Postma singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Alpena Varsity Wildcats captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the fourth after Kadyn Vanderveer tripled to center field, and MacArthur flew out, each scoring two runs. Alpena Varsity Wildcats scored six runs on one hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. Vanderveer singled, scoring one run, Clark Weir was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Eion Eades drew a walk, scoring one run, Gavin Ross drew a walk, scoring one run, Weir scored after tagging up, and a passed ball scored one run. Vanderveer earned the win for Alpena Varsity Wildcats. The reliever surrendered one hit and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none. Bryce Mitchell took the loss for Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler went one inning, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking three. Savoie led things off on the mound for Rudyard Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking none. Blayze Most opened the game for Alpena Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher allowed four hits and four runs (two earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.
