Bethlehem, PA — Tyler Sanders’s Clutch Hitting Propels Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs To Victory Over Liberty By GameChanger Media Tyler Sanders drove in four runs on three hits to lead Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs past Liberty 9-1 on Thursday. Sanders doubled in the sixth inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the third inning, scoring one. Liberty opened the scoring in the first after Jacob Strong singled, scoring one run. Sanders singled to center field, which helped Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs tie the game at one in the top of the third. A single by Henry Shultz gave Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth. Nick Cristman earned the win for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The starter surrendered two hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking five. Rocco Sciarra took the loss for Liberty. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out three and walking five. Logan Shean threw two innings of shutout ball for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs in relief. The righty allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking one. Shultz collected two hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs in three at bats. Tanner Sweeney led Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 13 walks for the game. Sanders stole two bases. Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.
