Chanute, KS — The Tonganoxie varsity girls soccer team took care of business against Chanute High School on Friday, April 10th with a score of 8-0. The game lasted only one half as the Chieftains mercy ruled Chanute. Lilli Sanders opened up the scoring in the second minute off of an assist from Legan Caraway. Natalie Loving put up a second goal for the Chieftains in the seventh minute on a solo run. Marissa Dick added the third off of an assist from Peyton VanMiddlesworth in the ninth minute. Sanders earned her second goal of the evening off of an assist from Loving in the 18th minute. Molly Vought scored two back to back goals in the 22nd and 26th minute with assists from Loving and Grace Weatherford. Loving had another solo run which ended up as her second goal to put the score at 7-0 in the 30th minute. The final goal came from Sanders to complete her hat trick in the 34th minute off of another assist from Weatherford. Lauren Breuer and her backline of Evelynn Fox, Abigail Blanka, Avery Smith and Gemma Halsa earned another shutout. Loving, Sanders, and Dick led in shots with five each. Vought and Weatherford each recorded three shots. The Chieftains look to carry this momentum into next week on Tuesday, April 14th at 6 p.m. at Louisburg.
After having a cancellation on Thursday at Maranatha, the JV girls soccer team beat Chanute 1-0. The lone goal came from Natalie Rogers in the third minute off of an assist from Gabriela Garza. Brooke Price led the team with two shots. Tailynn Lang, Johanna Boone, Alicia Rojas, and Rogers each had one shot. Chaynee Howell earned herself shutout with one save. The JV girls continue their season at 4:30 p.m. at Louisburg on Tuesday, April 14th.
