Tonganoxie, KS — The Lady Chieftains scraped by a 3-2 victory against Ottawa. The first goal for the Chieftains came from Marissa Dick with an assist from Lilli Sanders in the 20th minute. Natalie Loving led the half with four shots, Dick, Sanders, and Evelynn Fox each had two shots. Lauren Breuer ended the first half with two saves. The start of the second half immediately put the Chieftains into danger when Ottawa scored on a breakaway in the 41st minute. Molly Vought added to the score with an assist from Grace Weatherford in the 62nd minute. Ottawa scored off of a corner kick in the 77th minute to tie things up once again. With the end in sight, the score stood at 2-2 with teams prepping to play overtime. Legan Caraway dribbled her way through several players and unleashed a shot to earn the Chieftains the win with two minutes left to play. Lauren Breuer held up with four more saves. The Chieftains face their toughest oppenent yet on Tuesday, April 21st at home against Spring Hill.
The JV Lady Chieftains earned themselves a win and a shutout against Ottawa. The first half went scoreless with Gabriela Garza having two shots and Reese Eckstein with one. Natalie Loving played goalkeeper for the first half and recorded one save. Garza earned herself a goal with 19 minutes left in the second half. Alicia Rojas was relentless in her attack and scored a goal to make the score 2-0 with four minutes left to play. Rojas led the team and had seven shots in the second half. Garza had four shots, Eckstein and Brooke Price both had two shots. Chaynee Howell had two saves to complete the shutout. The Lady Chieftains play Spring Hill on Tuesday, April 21st at 4:30 p.m.
