Plymouth, PA — Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs Triumph Over Wyoming Valley West

Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs were victorious against Wyoming Valley West 5-1 on Saturday.
Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs opened the scoring in the second after Tony Arnold singled, scoring one run.
Jackson Puscavage singled down the left field line, which helped Wyoming Valley West tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs took the lead in the top of the fourth. Maison Mourani singled, scoring one run, to give Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs the edge, 2-1.
Carson Strauss led things off on the hill for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs. The hurler allowed two hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking six. Omar Sanchez led things off on the mound for Wyoming Valley West. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Starlin Abreu and Kevin Nguyen each threw scoreless innings for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs in relief.
Arnold, Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs's number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats. Mourani, Abreu, and Arnold each drove in one run for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs. Carter Renninger paced Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Renninger and Griffin Peters each stole multiple bases for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs. Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 11 stolen bases for the game.
Puscavage led Wyoming Valley West with one run batted in. Puscavage went 1-for-2 on the day. Puscavage, Robert Chipego, and Neal Bennett each collected one hit for Wyoming Valley West. Wyoming Valley West had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Argenis Hernandez and Michael Stanko led the team with two bases on balls each. Wyoming Valley West stole four bases in the game. Wyoming Valley West turned one double play in the game.
