6th Grade CHAMPIONS!
Pride 21 6th grade girls led by Coach James King secured a tournament Championship this weekend at Northwood University. Having already beaten their opponent the first time usually makes it a tough game the second time around. Pride 21 was on a mission to prove that to not be the point. Akira Santos came out shooting the passing lanes early and racked up 4 steals in the first 3 minutes of the game. She continued her onslaught on defense until the game was out of reach and she was subbed out. Payton Thompson did a great job controlling the offense and pressuring the ball at the top of the half court trap Pride 21 used to put Storm Elite in a big hole early in the game. Akira Santos wrapped up the tournament winning 6th grade MVP averaging 8 points, 7 steals, and 6 rebounds a game. Pride 21 sealed the Championship without the big forward Jazelle King while this being the first tournament without that presence down low. The team came together as one to help fill the void on the glass all weekend.
