Pinconning Varsity Spartans were triumphant over Gladwin 4-1 on Friday.
Pinconning Varsity Spartans got on the board in the third inning after Alex Shelagowski grounded out, scoring one run.
Logan Walters singled down the left field line, which helped Gladwin tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
In the top of the sixth, Pinconning Varsity Spartans broke up the tie when Colton Shelagowski doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Jaxson Allard followed to extend the lead to 4-1.
Blake Kareus led things off on the hill for Pinconning Varsity Spartans. The hurler allowed three hits and one run over six innings, striking out five and walking one. #22 started on the bump for Gladwin. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking none.
Shelagowski led Pinconning Varsity Spartans with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-2 on the day. Kareus, Shelagowski, Shelagowski, and Allard each collected one hit for Pinconning Varsity Spartans. Landon Cooley paced Pinconning Varsity Spartans with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Pinconning Varsity Spartans were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Cooley had the most chances in the field with six.
#14, Walters, and #2 each collected one hit for Gladwin. Walters led Gladwin with one run batted in. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Gladwin were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. #19 had the most chances in the field with one.
