Almont Varsity Raiders couldn't keep up with Adams Varsity Softball and fell 8-2 on Monday at Almont High School.
Almont Varsity Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Debczak grounded into a fielder's choice, and Campbell singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Adams Varsity Softball took the lead in the top of the third. A passed ball scored two runs, to give Adams Varsity Softball the lead, 3-2.
Cook earned the win for Adams Varsity Softball. The hurler allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Campbell took the loss for Almont Varsity Raiders. The starting pitcher went five innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out none and walking five.
Campbell and Derk each collected two hits for Almont Varsity Raiders. Debczak and Campbell each drove in one run for Almont Varsity Raiders. Almont Varsity Raiders turned two double plays in the game.
Cook and Viazanko were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Adams Varsity Softball. Viazanko went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Adams Varsity Softball had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game.
