Plymouth, PA — Big Fifth Inning Leads Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs Past Wyoming Valley West

Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs scored five runs in the fifth inning, which helped them defeat Wyoming Valley West 8-2 on Saturday. Tyler Sanders singled, scoring one run, Callen Nicklas singled, scoring two runs, Jack Lloyd singled, scoring one run, and Kaden Dubaskas induced Henry Shultz to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Wyoming Valley West committed an error, Chase Miller singled to center field, and Nicklas singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
Lloyd earned the win for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Jesse Klem took the loss for Wyoming Valley West. The hurler went four innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking two. Logan Shean appeared in relief for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs accumulated nine hits in the game. Donato Brigidi, Kolby Miller, and Nicklas each collected two hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. Nicklas went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Brigidi and Miller each stole multiple bases for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs ran wild on the base paths, accumulating eight stolen bases for the game. Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs turned one double play in the game.
D'Vonte Rivers and Damien Eastman were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Wyoming Valley West. Rivers, R.J. Cardillo, and Tanner Ragukas each collected one hit for Wyoming Valley West.
