Clay Center, KS — Lacy Vestal drove in five runs on four hits to lead Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders past Clay Center 16-14 on Monday at Clay Center. Vestal doubled in the fourth scoring two, hit a home run to center field in the seventh scoring two, and singled in the fifth scoring one. Bats blistered as Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders collected 15 hits and Clay Center tallied 17 in the high-scoring game. Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders were the first to get on the board in the first when Curtice singled, scoring one run. A single by Theel extended the Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders lead to 3-0 in the top of the second inning. An error extended the Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders lead to 4-2 in the top of the third inning. Clay Center made the score 5-4 in the bottom of the third after Hendrickson singled, scoring one run, and Weller homered to center field, scoring two runs. Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders took the lead in the top of the fourth. Vestal doubled, scoring two runs, to give Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders the upper hand, 6-5. Clay Center took the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two walks. Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 11-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Fath that drove in two. Wamego Junior Varsity Lady Raiders added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on four hits. Vestal homered to center field, scoring two runs, Schiel singled, scoring one run, and Utley grounded out, scoring one run. Clay Center scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh inning. Colp doubled, scoring two runs, Hendrickson homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Frigzen grounded out, scoring one run.
