Clay Center, KS — Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders got out to a 9-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 9-7 victory over Clay Center High School on Monday. Clay Center High School closed the gap by scoring on a sacrifice fly, a single, a single, a walk, and a double. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders opened the scoring in the third after McCarthy hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders scored six runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Kohlmeier singled, scoring two runs, Stanley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Adams singled, scoring two runs, and Hall singled, scoring one run. Adams earned the win for Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and seven runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking three.
