Whitehall, PA — Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs Fall To Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids Despite Strong Effort From Starlin Abreu

Starlin Abreu collected three hits in four at bats, but Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs lost to Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids 13-8 on Monday. Abreu hit a home run to right field in the third inning, tripled in the first inning, and doubled in the sixth inning.
A single by Joshua Carrasco on an 0-2 count put Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids on the board in the top of the first.
Abreu tripled to right field, which helped Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids captured the lead, 3-1, in the top of the second after Chase Werkheiser singled to right field, and Ty Rutzmoser singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs took the lead in the bottom of the third. Abreu homered to right field, scoring two runs, to give Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs the advantage, 4-3.
Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs committed an error, Rutzmoser singled to center field, Ben Swain singled to left field, and William Burrell walked, each scoring one run.
Tony Arnold doubled to center field on an 0-2 count, which helped Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs tie the game at eight in the bottom of the sixth.
Northampton Junior Varsity Konkrete Kids flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on six hits to take the lead, 13-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Luke Stopay that drove in three.
Yorvi Almonte led things off on the hill for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs. The pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking six.
