Coplay — Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs Go Down On Final Play Against William Allen

Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs fell to William Allen 6-5 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when Inoa singled, scoring one run.
Sudge Hoderewski collected three hits in three at bats in the loss. Hoderewski hit a solo home run to center field in the seventh inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.
A double play put Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs on the board in the top of the first.
Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs added two runs in the third after Kolby Miller walked.
William Allen flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead, 5-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Cartagena on an 0-2 count that drove in three.
Hoderewski homered to center field, which helped Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs tie the game at five in the top of the seventh.
Jack Lloyd started on the hill for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. The pitcher allowed eight hits and five runs over six and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking two. Herrera started on the hill for William Allen. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking seven.
Miller and Hoderewski each drove in one run for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs. Nik Christman collected two hits for Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs in three at bats. Donato Brigidi led Whitehall Varsity Zephyrs with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game.
William Allen piled up 10 hits in the game. Cartagena led William Allen with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The first baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Inoa went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead William Allen in hits. William Allen turned two double plays in the game. William Allen didn't commit a single error in the field. Pena had the most chances in the field with eight.
