Wamego, KS — McCarthy drove in four runs on one hit to lead Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders past Seaman Varsity Vikings 11-10 on Friday at 1001 Balderson Blvd. McCarthy hit a home run to left field in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, scoring one. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders collected 12 hits and Seaman Varsity Vikings had 12 in the high-scoring affair. Seaman Varsity Vikings opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two home runs. Seaman Varsity Vikings first got on the board when Dreher hit a solo home run to left field. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders captured the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the second when Kohlmeier doubled, scoring two runs, and Hall singled, scoring one run. Seaman Varsity Vikings flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Rumsey following a 7-pitch at-bat that drove in three. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth thanks to two home runs. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders tied the game at seven on a solo home run to center field by Stanley. In the bottom of the fifth, Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders broke up the tie when McCarthy hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. Then a single by Evans followed to extend the lead to 11-7. Cook earned the win for Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders. The starting pitcher allowed 12 hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. Beightel took the loss for Seaman Varsity Vikings. The starter went four innings, surrendering seven runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking two. Adams collected the save.
