Wamego, KS — Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders built a 4-run lead in the second inning and then held off Abilene Varsity Cowgirls's charge for a 6-5 victory on Friday. Abilene Varsity Cowgirls closed the gap by scoring on a single, a walk, a single, and a single. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the sixth when Coon hit a solo home run to left field. Wamego Varsity Lady Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Cook singled down the right field line, Hall grounded into a fielder's choice, McCarthy singled down the right field line, and Evans hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
