Shelton Freshman Gaels defeated Fairfield Prep 10-4 on Saturday at Tunxis Hill thanks in part to six runs in the third inning. Jayden Pena drew a walk, scoring one run, Omar Soto drew a walk, scoring one run, Jack Long drew a walk, scoring one run, Ryan Pearson drew a walk, scoring one run, R Stanton induced Brayden Blohm to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Jacob Gonzalez singled, scoring one run.
A line out by C McDonell put Fairfield Prep on the board in the bottom of the second.
Omar Soto earned the win for Shelton Freshman Gaels. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking one. Shubert took the loss for Fairfield Prep. The pitcher went two innings, giving up four runs on zero hits, striking out one and walking four. Eric Veloz collected the save.
Brayden Blohm provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Shelton Freshman Gaels with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Jacob Gonzalez and Brayden Blohm each collected two hits for Shelton Freshman Gaels. Ryan Pearson led Shelton Freshman Gaels with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game.
C Kaldawg led Fairfield Prep with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. R Stanton, D Kalagher, C Kaldawg, J Corselli, and D Hurta each collected one hit for Fairfield Prep. Fairfield Prep turned one double play in the game.
