Recap
Stratford, CT — Bethel ended up beating Stratford today at Penders Field 9-0, but what a game it was through 6 innings. Sophomore Jack Wiltsie getting his first start on the mound this season did not disappoint. Bethel, who came in at 4-0 after beating Masuk, St Joe’s, Brien McMahon & Danbury, was ready to go. But Jack Wiltsie was right up to the challenge of a quality SWC league opponent only giving up 4 hits & 1 run through 6 full innings striking out 8 & walking 4. That one run came in the top of the 6th as Bethel pieced together a triple & single. Stratford only managed 3 hits (Cody Galkant 2, Jack Wiltsie 1) and no Stratford baserunners made it past second base. Unfortunately for Stratford in the top of the 7th, a rash of Free 90’s (error, walks, etc.) with Bethel accented things with 3 hits along the way led to the final 8 runs. Stratford (1-4, 0-1 SWC) returns to action on Wednesday up at Weston. Game-time is set for 4:15.
