Newtown, CT — By GameChanger Newtown Nighthawks Freshman took down Hand Freshman Tigers 6-4 on Saturday at Fairfield Hills Campus. Hand Freshman Tigers jumped out to the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Kaiman tripled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Newtown Nighthawks Freshman flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs on six hits to take the lead, 6-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a ground out by Justin Twitchell that drove in two. James Trubiano earned the win for Newtown Nighthawks Freshman. The pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking three. Luca Mingione took the loss for Hand Freshman Tigers. The pitcher went one inning, allowing three runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking one. Gabe Seehusen stepped on the bump first for Hand Freshman Tigers. The hurler surrendered six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking none. Justin Twitchell appeared in relief for Newtown Nighthawks Freshman. Newtown Nighthawks Freshman amassed nine hits in the game. Conor Mcgee and Christian Nault each collected two hits for Newtown Nighthawks Freshman. James Trubiano, Jake Coscia, Conor Mcgee, Justin Twitchell, and Shea Platt each drove in one run for Newtown Nighthawks Freshman. Conor Mcgee stole two bases. Newtown Nighthawks Freshman ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. Kaiman went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Hand Freshman Tigers's Luca Mingione, the number eight hitter, led Hand Freshman Tigers with two hits in two at bats. Cole Semple stole two bases.
