Tucson, AZ — The bats were blazing and the pitching was dominant as the Salpointe Catholic Varsity Lady Lancers rolled to a commanding 13-0 shutout victory over the Flagstaff Eagles on Tuesday at Salpointe Catholic High School.
Torrence Salyer put together a monster performance at the plate, driving in six runs on three hits to lead the Lancers’ offensive explosion. Salyer wasted no time making an impact, ripping a two-run double in the first inning before adding another RBI double in the second. She capped off her huge night with a towering three-run homer to center field in the third inning that blew the game wide open.
Meanwhile, Macee Jackson was simply untouchable in the circle. The right-hander struck out 11 batters over five flawless innings, allowing no hits, no runs, and no walks in a dominant complete-game performance.
The Lancers struck first in the opening inning when Salyer delivered a clutch two-run double to put Salpointe ahead early. From there, the offense never slowed down.
Salpointe erupted for seven runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from CC Moraga, another RBI double from Salyer, and a three-run double from Alyssa Montano. An Eagles error added another run as the Lancers seized total control.
The third inning brought even more fireworks. Sarah Camp drove in a run with a single before Salyer launched her three-run blast to center, extending the lead to 13-0 and putting the finishing touches on a dominant night.
The Lancers finished with 12 hits as Isabel Otero and Salyer each collected three hits. Moraga and Montano also turned in multi-hit performances to fuel the offensive attack.
Defensively, Salpointe was flawless, committing zero errors on the night. Camp anchored the defense with a team-high 11 plays.
Flagstaff turned one double play, while Cailee Culwell took the loss for the Eagles after pitching three innings against the surging Lancers lineup.
