Emmaus Junior Varsity Green Hornets scored seven runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs 11-1 on Tuesday.
Emmaus Junior Varsity Green Hornets jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Steve Hodge was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Sam Fleetwood drew a walk, scoring one run, Parker Davis singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Jackson Marsh singled, scoring two runs.
A fly out by Fleetwood, a hit by a pitch, and a home run to right field by Justin Spagna helped Emmaus Junior Varsity Green Hornets extend their early lead in the third.
Starlin Abreu started on the mound for Whitehall Junior Varsity Zephyrs. The starter surrendered five hits and 10 runs (eight earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. Ryan Gil stepped on the hill first for Emmaus Junior Varsity Green Hornets. The left-handed pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.
