Westhill Varsity Vikings Leave Victorious After Challenging Back-And-Forth Game Against St. Joseph Varsity Cadets

Westhill Varsity Vikings and St. Joseph Varsity Cadets played a taut affair on Monday, but Westhill Varsity Vikings eventually prevailed 11-9. Westhill Varsity Vikings were down 9-8 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Matthew Brucker doubled, scoring two runs.
Westhill Varsity Vikings got on the board in the first inning after Aidan Dube hit a solo home run to left field.
St. Joseph Varsity Cadets jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after John Mercier walked, Westhill Varsity Vikings committed an error, and Jake Failla was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Harrison Tronick homered to left field, which helped Westhill Varsity Vikings tie the game at three in the bottom of the second.
A home run to right field by Josh Green gave St. Joseph Varsity Cadets the lead, 6-3, in the top of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Westhill Varsity Vikings went back into the lead after Harrison Tronick singled down the left field line, and St. Joseph Varsity Cadets committed an error, each scoring one run.
St. Joseph Varsity Cadets jumped into the lead in the top of the fifth when John Mercier singled, scoring two runs, and Kyle Esteves drew a walk, scoring one run.
Westhill Varsity Vikings made the score 11-9 in the bottom of the sixth after an error scored one run, Matthew Brucker doubled, scoring two runs, and Charles Combest hit into a double play, but one run scored.
Zach Rende earned the win for Westhill Varsity Vikings. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out none and walking none. Christopher D’Ambrosio pitched three innings in relief for Westhill Varsity Vikings. The left-handed pitcher allowed six hits and six runs (five earned) while, striking out two and walking two. Christan Rouse took the loss for St. Joseph Varsity Cadets. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Elliot Nerenberg began the game for Westhill Varsity Vikings. The pitcher allowed zero hits and three runs (one earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Gavin Rovinelli started the game for St. Joseph Varsity Cadets. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and seven runs (five earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking four.
