Wilton, CT — By GameChanger Mark Sytnyk struck out 11 batters as the starting pitcher led Westhill Varsity Vikings past Wilton Varsity Warriors 6-3 on Monday at TBD. Mark Sytnyk gave up three hits and three runs over seven innings while walking none. Wilton Varsity Warriors were the first to get on the board in the second when one run scored on another play. Aidan Dube doubled to center field, which helped Westhill Varsity Vikings tie the game at one in the top of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Westhill Varsity Vikings broke up the tie when a passed ball scored one run. Then a ground out by Christian Pelletier followed to extend the lead to 4-1. Greg Bocchino took the loss for Wilton Varsity Warriors. The righty went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering two runs on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Mario Coppola stepped on the hill first for Wilton Varsity Warriors. The right-handed pitcher surrendered three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking five. Matthew Brucker went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Number seven hitter, Daurin Arias, showed the depth of Westhill Varsity Vikings's lineup, by leading them with two hits in four at bats. Westhill Varsity Vikings had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Harrison Tronick and Zach Rende led the team with two free passes each. Jack McMenamey and Colton Smith were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Wilton Varsity Warriors. Jack McMenamey, Denny Dustin, and Mason Behar each collected one hit for Wilton Varsity Warriors. Wilton Varsity Warriors were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Cole Herbst had the most chances in the field with eight. Westhill Varsity Vikings play at home on Wednesday against Bridgeport Central Varsity Hilltoppers in their next game.
