Tonganoxie, KS — The Tonganoxie Lady Chieftains beat Paola in a comeback win in their first round of regionals. Paola snuck a goal in with three minutes to play in the first half. Despite the score, the Chieftains dominated the first half with a total of six shots. Paola’s only shot in the first half was their goal. Evelynn Fox led the Chieftains with two shots. Miley Maxwell, Paityn Van Middlesworth, Lilli Sanders, and Marissa Dick each had one shot. In the 57th minute, Van Middlesworth found Dick for the Chieftains first goal of the evening. Less than ten minutes later, in the 64th minute, Grace Weatherford assisted Legan Caraway’s goal. Lauren Breuer recorded three total saves. Sanders led the second half with three shots. Right behind Sanders, Caraway had two shots in the second half. The Chieftains ended the game 2-1 and will play in the Regional Championship on Wednesday, May 20th, at Louisburg.
