Recap
Atchison, KS — We traveled to Maur Hill for a road matchup and unfortunately never quite found the rhythm we were looking for.
We came out a little flat on the grass and had a hard time settling into the game early. Maur Hill took advantage and found the first goal of the night in the first half, putting us in a position where we were chasing the game.
We talked at halftime about bringing more energy and finding a way to get ourselves back into it, but Maur Hill struck again early in the second half to put us down 2-0.
From there, we started moving some guys around and trying some different combinations to see if we could create a spark. We pushed some of our defenders higher up the field and gave them opportunities in the attack, and I thought we started to see a little more life from the group.
Unfortunately, we just couldn’t turn that into the goals we needed.
It was one of those nights where we never really found a consistent rhythm. We had stretches where things started to look better, but we weren’t able to sustain it long enough to take control of the game.
Losses like this give you a pretty clear picture of the areas that need attention. As a coaching staff, there are some things we know we need to change and some different looks we want to give the guys moving forward.
The important thing now is how we respond. We have a quick turnaround with Baldwin coming up, and we’ll use what we learned Tuesday to make some adjustments, get back to work and hopefully come out with a different level of energy in our next one.
