Redding, CA — Last year Sac High lost a heartbreaking championship game vs. Enterprise High School exactly one year ago on Enterprise’s home court. It was a loss the players, coaches and fans will never forget. From the first day of the tournament, revenge and taking home the hardware is all that was on Sacramento’s minds. They got their revenge match and boy were they ready. Sac jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back, ending the quarter on an 8-0 run for a 21-9 lead. Andriana Avent (19 points) and Ryanne Walters paced an offense and defense that looked locked in from the start and never let Enterprise get into a rhythm or get into the game. Sacs pressure defense, which is forcing over 35 turnovers per game early in the season, was just too much to handle. Enterprise’s star player, Jadyn Matthews saw waves of defenders whenever she touched the ball. What ensued was a host of terrible decisions for the defending champ from the hometown. The last of the starters headed to the bench with about with about 5 minutes to go in the game as Sac put the finishing touches on their finely executed masterpiece, winning 73-41. RyAnne Walters took home MVP, while Andriana Avent, Muirae Gomez and LaDiamond Cobarruviaz were named to the all tournament team. Sac next plays Oak Ridge before heading out to compete in the Nike TOC in Phoenix, Arizona.
