Buena Park, CA — FULLERTON, Calif. — The Sonora Raiders continued their undefeated start to the 2026 season Friday night, traveling to Sunny Hills and coming away with a convincing 14-0 victory over the Lancers. After a scoreless first quarter, Sonora broke through in the second quarter and carried a 8-0 advantage into halftime. The Raiders added another touchdown in the third quarter, while the defense continued to keep Sunny Hills off the scoreboard for the remainder of the night. Sonora's defense was the story of the game, recording a shutout against a Sunny Hills offense that struggled to generate consistent momentum. The Raiders' ability to control the line of scrimmage and limit scoring opportunities allowed the offense to play with a lead throughout the second half. Gabriel Burgos led the Sonora rushing attack with 105 yards and a touchdown, providing the Raiders with a strong presence on the ground. Through the air, Matthew Shaw had a standout performance, recording 96 receiving yards, his highest total of the season. The Raiders' balanced offensive attack and disciplined defensive performance proved to be enough as Sonora closed out the 14-0 victory. With the win, Sonora improved to 5-0 on the season, maintaining its perfect record heading into the team's bye week. The victory also marked a measure of redemption for the Raiders after Sunny Hills defeated Sonora when the teams met in September 2025. Sonora will return to action October 2nd, when the Raiders travel to face Fountain Valley in their first Lambda League contest of the season. Sunny Hills will also return October 2nd, hosting Portola. Final: Sonora 14, Sunny Hills 0
