Palo Alto, CA — The Gunn Titans opened Peninsula Athletic League Lake Division play with a huge 21–20 victory over Saratoga, handing the Falcons their first loss of the season and starting league play 1–0. Saratoga entered the matchup undefeated at 3–0, while Gunn came in looking to build on its 33–0 victory over Lynbrook. Thursday night's game was exactly the type of battle we expected. Saratoga entered league play averaging more than 36 points per game and had scored 35 or more points in each of its first three games. The Gunn defense stepped up to the challenge, holding the Falcons to just 20 points and giving our offense the opportunity to finish the job. The Titans showed tremendous toughness and resilience throughout the game. When adversity hit, our players continued to compete, stayed together, and found a way to make the plays necessary to win. In a game decided by a single point, every block, tackle, yard, and possession mattered. The 21–20 win moved Gunn to 2–1 overall and 1–0 in the Peninsula–Lake Division, while extending the Titans' winning streak to two games. After opening the season with a road loss to Pajaro Valley, Gunn has responded with consecutive home victories—33–0 over Lynbrook and 21–20 over Saratoga. More important than the record, this was a complete team victory. Our players continue to learn what it means to trust one another, stay disciplined, and keep fighting regardless of the situation. Winning a one-point game against an undefeated opponent is a great example of the type of toughness and resilience we want to represent as a program. There is still a lot of football ahead of us and plenty that we need to improve. This team understands that one league win doesn't define a season. We will enjoy the victory, learn from the film, get back to work, and continue building. Gunn 21, Saratoga 20 Overall Record: 2–1 League Record: 1–0 1–0 in league. Keep building. TITAN BUILT!
