Irvine, CA — Our Trojans put on a show in the season opener last Thursday with a rollicking win against Godinez. The team built a three touchdown lead midway through the second quarter and then added three late scores at the end of the first half to win at home 41-19 in a non-league at Uni. University’s senior quarterback Dylan Elmer tossed four touchdown passes, three to senior wide receiver Moises Keith-Chavez. Keith-Chavez caught four passes for 103 yards in his first action for the Trojans. He had 154 all-purpose yards adding an interception, five tackles and two passes defended. Senior running back-linebacker Deandre Miller had a 65-yard pick six at the end of the first half and contributed 141 all-purpose yards and added two tackles for loss. Junior Trevor Pattock caught a 15-yard scoring pass, kicked five extra points and booted a 52-yard punt. Newcomer senior linebacker Kaio Kobayahi was active on defense with eight tackles. Godinez made it respectable with three second half touchdowns. Grizzlies senior quarterback Loodwin Calderon threw an 18-yard scoring pass to junior Gerardo Teodoro to get Godinez on the board in the third quarter. Senior running back Roberto Santaella scored on a two-yard run. Late in the fourth quarter, Adrian Ramirez had a 14-yard touchdown. The junior running back had 145 rushing yards on 29 carries. University hosts Bolsa Grande and Godinez hosts Rancho Alamitos at Santa Ana Valley on Friday, Aug. 28. Go Trojans!
