Fort Wayne, IN — The newest group of Bishop Dwenger Saints didn't need long to announce themselves. In the first career game for the Class of 2030, the BD freshmen shook off an early stumble and rolled to a 28-2 win over De Sales at home. Things didn't start according to script. A sack in the end zone gave De Sales a safety and a quick 2-0 lead, and the Saints were forced to kick from their own 20 — handing the visitors great field position to open their first offensive series. But the momentum swing that followed set the tone for the rest of the day. On second down, a De Sales fumble was pounced on by #59 Crew Wirges, flipping the field and giving BD a fresh set of downs at midfield. One play later, #23 Carter Lyons took off for a 49-yard touchdown sprint. A successful two-point conversion put the Saints in front 8-2, and they never looked back. From there, BD's offense found its rhythm. #13 Sorcha Boacheon added a 20-yard touchdown run, and quarterback #15 Landin Haynes hooked up with #24 Asher Bullerman on a 27-yard scoring strike to send the Saints into the break ahead 21-2. The Saints saved one of their best-designed plays for the third quarter. Haynes faked the handoff to #32 Seth Andes, then slipped the ball to Bullerman on a reverse, and Bullerman raced 30 yards to the end zone for his second touchdown of the day. That made it 28-2 — a score that would hold up as the final. Just as impressive was the defense, which held firm across all four quarters. #85 Isaac Kenny, #12 Luca Lebrato, #59 Crew Wirges, and #53 Theodore Grab anchored the effort, backed by a host of other Saints who refused to give an inch. It was a great showing for the Class of 2030 — with plenty more to come. The BD faithful will be watching this group closely.
