Cocoa, FL — The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team came storming back to post a five-set win against Santa Fe at Titan Field House on Wednesday night. The Titans split the first two sets 24-26, 25-17 with Santa Fe and then the Saints took the lead with a 25-23 win in the third set and looked like they were poised to take the four-set win. But down 19-12, Eastern Florida State College responded with a clutch 5-0 run to get back into the set, trailing 20-17. They would continue the run as an Emma Bocquier kill made it 22-23 and then on the brink of losing the set, Diara Gaye had back-to-back kills to tie the match 24-24. It would go back and forth until the Titans picked up the 30-28 victory, forcing a fifth set. The Titans would trail to begin the fifth set but a Jada Zimmerman kill followed up with another Gaye kill would tie things 5-5. After a Santa Fe point, the Titans would go on a 6-0 run as Bocquier had a strong serve to put the Titans in control. After a timeout, the Saints ended the run but the Titans went on to finish off the win 15-8. "I am proud of this team, they fought hard and the way they bounced back after being down 2-1 is big. I have said that when this team wants to, it can be very good and we fought really hard, especially in the fourth set when everyone thought we were done," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. Zimmerman finished with 21 kills and 13 digs while Gaye and Leyre Arroyo Sanchez each had nine kills in the win. "It is a big win for us to maintain our position in the conference standings," Eleutiza said. "We can't take anyone for granted in this conference and hopefully we can carry this momentum into Saturday's contest with Polk and beyond."
