San Diego, CA — The RBV Longhorns fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 6-5 defeat to Rancho Bernardo on Friday. The RBV Longhorns were only able to score one run on 3 hits in the seventh inning. The RBV Longhorns lost despite out-hitting Rancho Bernardo 17 to 8. In the second inning, Rancho Bernardo got their offense started when #16 drew a walk, scoring one run. Rancho Bernardo pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third #11 singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs and #7 singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The RBV Longhorns tallied three runs in the sixth inning. The Longhorns's big inning was driven by a single by Paige Dimler and a double by Shealee Perkins. #7 Allie Boaz took the win for Rancho Bernardo. She lasted seven innings, allowing 17 hits and five runs while walking zero. Farrah Steffany took the loss for The RBV Longhorns. She pitched all six innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out two. The RBV Longhorns collected 17 hits. Steffany, Savannah Coyle, Cadee Herrmann, Faith Steffany, and Lily Vivian each collected multiple hits for RBV. Steffany went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Longhorns in hits. Rancho Bernardo totaled eight hits. #10, #22, and #7 all managed multiple hits for Rancho Bernardo. Rancho Bernardo didn't commit a single error in the field. #8 had the most chances in the field with seven.
