Cerritos, CA — Pioneer Titans Varsity took home a 4-2 victory over Whitney on Friday. Whitney opened up scoring in the first inning, when Rudy Lopez III singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. After Pioneer scored one run in the top of the fifth, Whitney answered with one of their own. The Titans scored when Isaiah Montalvo doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Whitney then answered when Michael Campos singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. PiHi pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Mikey Amigon singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Javier Macias lined out, driving in a run. Macias took the win for Pioneer. He lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out nine. Jason Shin took the loss for Whitney. He lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and four runs while striking out ten. The Titans totaled eight hits. Amigon and Montalvo all managed multiple hits for Pioneer. Montalvo and Amigon each managed two hits to lead the offense.
