Shafter, CA — Delano Tigers Varsity defeated Shafter 10-0 on Saturday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Saul Garcia induced a fly out from Edwin Solis to finish off the game. Nate Cardenas showed a strong eye at the plate in the victory for Delano Tigers Varsity, as he walked three times. Delano Tigers Varsity got on the board in the first inning when Joel Herrera induced Guad Leyva to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored. Delano Tigers Varsity tallied four runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by Delano Tigers Varsity was led by Cardenas and Casey Jasso, who all drove in runs. One bright spot for Shafter was a double by Solis in the first inning. Leyva was the winning pitcher for Delano Tigers Varsity. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one.
