La Habra, CA — Sonora Raiders Varsity defeated Fountain Valley 7-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Trent Rodriguez induced a fly out from Sebastian Murillo to finish off the game. Sonora Raiders Varsity secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. Sonora Raiders Varsity's big bats in the inning were led by a single by Steven Salazar and a home run by Isaac Ramirez. Sonora Raiders Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Tyler Koster induced Hector Garcia to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Sonora Raiders Varsity notched five runs in the second inning. Salazar and Ramirez each drove in runs during the inning. One bright spot for Fountain Valley was a single by Noah Karliner in the fourth inning. Garcia toed the rubber for Sonora Raiders Varsity. He lasted six innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out nine. Koster was on the pitcher's mound for Fountain Valley. He went two innings, allowing six runs on four hits. Jacob Bixler, Nick Horn, and Cole Wentz each contributed in relief for Fountain Valley. Sonora Raiders Varsity socked one home run on the day. Ramirez went yard in the second inning.
