La Habra, CA — Sonora Raiders Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-3 loss to Aliso Niguel on Friday. Aliso Niguel scored on a single by Quinn Mathews in the first inning, a single by Nick Hanson in the first inning, and a single by Kevin Fitzer in the second inning. Aliso Niguel got things started in the first inning when Mathews singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Sonora Raiders Varsity scored three runs in the third inning. Bennett Thurman and Isaac Ramirez all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Evan Fitterer pitched Aliso Niguel to victory. He went five innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out eight. Mathews threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Mathews recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Aliso Niguel. Adam Berecek took the loss for Sonora Raiders Varsity. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out six. Berecek led Sonora Raiders Varsity with two hits in three at bats. Aliso Niguel collected 11 hits. Mathews and Braeden Tolman all managed multiple hits for Aliso Niguel. Mathews went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Aliso Niguel in hits. Aliso Niguel didn't commit a single error in the field. Hanson had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.
