Hemet, CA — The Freshman Elsinore Tigers played a solid all around game in hot conditions with a surprise early start time and the result was their first road victory of the season. Offensively, the Tigers offensive line had a strong performance, led by the blocking of Chris Olson and Jacob Melendez. Other offensive highlights were the passing and mobility of Semaj Moore (5 for 7 while escaping the rush and rolling out of the pocket), the receiving of Isaac Pineda (who also had an interception on defense), and a balanced rushing attack including Andrew Stankevich (100+ yds., 2 TDS), Gavin Smith, and Quincy Worthey(scoring his first Tiger TD). Defensively, the front was led by the relentless play of DEs Zavier Swoffer and Solomon Smith. In the secondary, Jamari Jones continued to shine while setting the edge and defending passes (also scoring his first TD run on offense). Other defensive highlights were the coverage and run support tackling of Cayden Cornelius (who had a nice run on a reverse as well) and the victory clinching interception by Gabe Elias. All eligible Tigers were able to contribute on the field to the victory. They will look to continue improving and “closing the gap” between what they are and what they can potentially become as they prepare to play Rancho Buena Vista (Vista, CA) at home next Thursday. http://www.hudl.com/game/elsinore-high-school-vs-hemet-high-school/freshman-football/131266-11578201/box-score
