Fountain Valley, CA — Not quite the same team we beat before (apparently MD moved 4-5 girls down from their large varsity roster to “help out” today) but that’s ok. So technically, we tied for 2nd in league, but had good enough efforts to get several JSerra players seeded in the Trinity League championships next week. There IS a rule against moving players down to (dominate) the JV tournament, so we should perform well next Tuesday. Today’s MVP honors go to Anna Ciraci in singles, for winning all 3 sets of singles in extremely hot weather. Anna played until 6:10pm winning her final and 3rd set 7-5😀🎾. Special MVP honors for EFFORT today to “bench player” Kano Fujiyoshi who moved up as a starter this afternoon and played by far the longest set in the 1st round, losing 7-9 in a tie-breaker. She then went in to fight back from a 1-5 deficit to before bowing out 5-7 in the 2nd round; followed by getting 4 games off Mater Dei’s #1 player! This is the kind of effort that wins matches and championships - great job today Kano! Honorable mention to Kylie Davidson who won 2 of 3 sets played in singles. Both Kylie and Anna are “seeded” in the singles draw for next week’s tournament. Please keep Ava Zell on your prayer lists for healthy recovery from taking a hard ricochet directly into her right eye this afternoon🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. Next up: Trinity League Championships - JV at JSerra Tuesday, Oct. 29th - 11am.
