San Juan Capistrano, CA — DH-1 took care of Laguna Beach handily in our first match of the season; squads A & B kept up the winning edge vs The Breakers 10-8 this afternoon in a back and forth match. Despite being down 2-4 after the first round of play, the Lions clawed back to an 8-8 tie before winning the last 2 sets of the day. MVP honors today go to the trio playing line 4 doubles, each winning both (100%!) sets played: Maclaine Murray, Nicole Griffith, Katie Demirbey. Well done ladies👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Honorable mention to Anna Solovjev and Samantha Weinberg who won 2 of 3 sets played today in the “top half” of the draw. Team captains Hayden Gibson and Lauren Smith, playing doubles together today for the first time were also 2 for 3 in the top half of the draw.
